My approach

My Credentials
Are you tired of falling in the same traps? Worried that things are starting to slip? Leaning more and more on unhealthy ways of living? Concerned that the life you've worked for is at risk?
Therapy can help and you've come to the right place.
My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you feel comfortable to reflect, grow, and become the best version of yourself. My therapy style is warm, non-judgmental, collaborative, straightforward, and authentic. I will meet you where you are to identify your mental health goals and figure out the most effective way to get there-- together.
My practice is rooted in evidence-based treatments and practices that are proven to work-- without being robotic. I utilize a semi-structured approach to help you process your concerns while providing concrete skills to help you find the balance in life you crave.
Together we will explore your patterns to elucidate connections, build on strengths, and make adjustments to benefit you.
My primary specialty areas include substance use, gambling, anger, anxiety, stress/burnout, life transitions, and identity development.
I want to help you navigate the next steps of your journey and build a path that feels valued and true to you. Our work will empower you to cope more fully, relate to others (and yourself) more effectively, and communicate more clearly.

Therapy Where You Are
I am physically located in Texas but have completed additional credentialing to provide online therapy to over 40 U.S. states via an interstate agreement called PSYPACT. This allows me to reach more people who may benefit from therapy services across the country, and provide consistent services to people who may regularly travel for work, school, or other commitments.
That means you don't have to start over with a new therapist or take long breaks from treatment if you get that dream job on the other side of the country or travel for weeks at a time.
The bottom line is I can provide therapy virtually to you as long as you are physically in any of the states listed on the PSYPACT Map. Feel free to reach out if you are wondering if I serve your area!

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can benefit anyone! While going to therapy can sometimes be scary, or carry stigma, I encourage you to think of it like any other health behavior you engage in to keep yourself feeling your best or leveling up areas where you might be struggling- like eating healthy food, going to the gym, or seeing your doctor for check-ups.
Therapy with me may be particularly beneficial if you are trying to understand or change problematic behaviors like substance use or anger. And if I'm not the best fit for your needs- that's okay too!
I'm happy to offer free 15 minute phone consultations to discuss your needs and ask any questions you have! Click here to schedule your complimentary consultation!
How long will therapy last?
That depends. I usually work with people for about 6 months, but certainly have longer-term clients as well. Oftentimes people may start therapy to work on a specific area (e.g., alcohol use), then find they like the therapy space and decide to continue working on other concerns after they have met their initial goals.
What do you charge? Do you take insurance?
My rate is $220 per session.
I do not accept any insurance at this time.
I do provide a document called a 'superbill' that acts like a receipt for money you have paid out of pocket. If you have out-of-network benefits through your insurance carrier, you can provide them the superbill for potential, partial reimbursement. I encourage you to research this option with your insurance carrier if you are interested in pursuing this route.
Is this like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or 12 Step?
No, I do not practice from an AA or 12 Step model, nor do I push this framework on my clients.
I find that AA works well for some people and some people hate it- and that's okay! I will support you in any supplemental groups or supports you find effective for your recovery efforts in addition to individual therapy.
I don't have substance use, gambling, or anger problems, but like your approach. Can I still work with you?
Certainly!
While my specialty areas lean into substance use, gambling, and anger, I have a generalist training background and am happy to work with any clients that are a good fit for my style and approach.
I encourage you to schedule your free 15 minute phone consultation to discuss further!
Do you treat sex or porn addiction?
No, I do not provide treatment for sex or pornography addiction.
What is evidence-based treatment?
Evidence-based treatment is a term used to describe various methods, techniques, and full treatment protocols in mental health. Evidence-based treatments have been researched in empicrical studies, and data has been collected on the efficacy of the treatments.
In short, evidence- based treatments are backed by science and we have good evidence that they work!
Do you treat technology addiction?
No, I do not treat technology addiction or overuse at this time.
I see a lot of pictures of men on your website, do you only work with men?
No, I do not only work with men! While men have a higher rate of many of the problematic behaviors in which I specialize, I am happy to work with all individuals who want to improve themselves and break unhealthy cycles.
Do you have experience working with any special populations?
Yes, prior to opening my own practice I worked for many years at the VA treating our military veterans; therefore, I have a strong understanding of the unique stressors and culture of military and veterans as well as peripheral sectors such as first responders.
In addition, I have experience working with individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community and am an Ally.
Do you do interventions or help families do interventions for their loved ones?
No, I do not do interventions. In fact, data shows that interventions are not very effective.
I prefer to work with the individual who wants to make changes to their substance use or other problematic behaviors.
Do you use AI in your practice?
No, I do not use AI in my practice. I do not record sessions, nor do I use 'note taker' programs to generate file notes using AI.
